“Fetisso” has been producing high quality dipped latex clothes made of natural latex since 1992. The Fetisso factory is located in Brazil close to Pernambuco, a state in the north east of the country. This region was traditional known for its sugarcane plantations. More recently plantations of rubber trees has taken over from the sugarcane. Locating production close to the supply of the main raw material input ensures the Company maintains a minimum carbon footprint.

Those same rubber plantations also have a direct benefit for our environment. Rubber trees absorb around 17 tons (approx. 19 U.S. tons) of harmful CO2 (carbon) per year and hectare (approx. 107641 square feet) out of a polluted atmosphere. This is a lot more than other similar trees like the Australian Eucalyptus tree for example which are also widely used for reforestation in South America due to their drought resistant qualities. It may sound paradoxical that a product like latex, which doesn’t exactly seem to be natural, indirectly has a positive influence on our climate and reduces the greenhouse effect. In contrast to the sugar canes, rubber trees also provide shade, which creates living spaces for animals whereas sugarcane plantations mutate to a desert-like landscape.

Rubbery Quality at an Affordable Price

Apart from the Company’s enviable green credentials Fetisso represents excellent quality products at great value. Fetisso employs three European designers who continually strive for the very best in form, fit and design. Fetisso garments are made by the dipping process which allows for the anatomical features to be imprinted into the finished item. The rims of each garment have been made to be thicker than the body of the garment. They are stronger to prevent the garment from ripping.

The company has made considerable investment in their anatomical moulds. There is a “real” right and a “real” left foot in the socks and stockings. No more pinching for the big toe! The gloves are shaped like human arms. The shirts are bigger in the back than in the front to avoid pressure on the chest. The shorts and bermudas have enough room in the crotch so that the costumer’s able to move with comfort. The Fetisso manufacturing team is made up of locals who have been carefully recruited and trained in this highly specialised manufacturing process. Many items are made by hand and have to be produced with careful although constant movements. The manufacturing facility is a modern purpose built dust free environment properly ventilated to meet the highest standards of workplace health and safety.
